Virgin Galactic
Virgin founder, Sir Richard Branson and world-renowned aircraft engineer Burt Rutan have developed the world's first commercial spaceship, ensuring an unforgettable experience unlike any other available to mankind.
Virgin Galactic chose Spin Imaging based on our reputation for our expert engineering and attention to detail on this one of a kind aircraft.
We are honored to be part of this great piece of history and would like to give special thanks to all the people at Virgin Galactic for making us part of the family.
"This is just the start of what we believe will be a new era in the history of mankind, one day making the affordable exploration of space by human beings a real possibility." - Sir Richard Branson

Hot Wheels
Mattel has come up with some pretty awesome marketing ideas over the years and when they called on Spin Imaging to help brand their latest creation, we didn't hesitate to jump on board. Spin has worked with Mattel many times in the past, but this world-record setting collaboration project was indeed the icing on the cake. A series of viral videos was produced that challenged world-class athletes from a variety of motorsports. Spin branded these vehicles with powerful graphics that showcased the efforts of many professionals that were a part of this awesome project. In total, 10 different vehicles were brought to life for Team Hot Wheels, including dirt bikes, rally cars and even a flying truck.
1175 Santa Monica Blvd.
The commercial space at 11175 Santa Monica Blvd, in Los Angeles had been unfortunately labeled "The Green Monster" based on its unattractive exterior. A client of Sandstone Properties was interested in this space next to the 405 freeway, but it required an extreme makeover to secure the deal.
Sandstone called upon Shubin + Donaldson who successfully created a progressive design, yet simultaneously presented a new challenge: how to bring this new building design to life. They retained Spin Imaging’s expertise, leaders in ABV (Adhesive Black Vinyl) solution, to build the process of matching various materials and "activate" the design, creating a modern work of art.
The design objective was to mimic a horizontal flow that had previously "dated" the building’s old-fashioned theme. This was achieved by using a high performance, white exterior vinyl produced by 3M, followed by printing multiple tests (CMYK) until the approved color was achieved. There followed multiple layering techniques, tinting, and adding a chrome finish to marry the chrome and blue (a custom product created by Spin Imaging and 3M.)
Penske
In 2008, Spin Imaging pioneered "Chrome Wraps" on multiple cars for the Gumball Rally. These were the first of their kind in the United States.
So when Dragon Racing was looking for pure innovation to brand their 2012 Indy cars for Katherine Legge and Sébastien Boudais, they called upon us to work our magic. This gave us an incredibly rare opportunity to produce something unheard of: create colored chrome as the focal point of each vehicle.
Using a gloss black base with gold chrome overlays for Sébastien and a white base with printed blue chrome overlays for Katherine, the diversity and contrast accentuated the uniqueness of the brand.
With only a week to graphically complete each car, the pressure created a natural adrenaline and we successfully met the deadline. Both cars were debuted at the St. Petersburg race on March 25.
Necker Nymph
Necker Nymph is a "DeepFlight" three-person aero submarine. Likened to an underwater aircraft, this open-cockpit winged sub is the first of its kind, built for Sir Richard Branson. The craft was designed and built by renowned Hawkes Ocean Technologies and brought to life by Spin Imaging.
Available either when chartering Branson's yacht Necker Belle or when staying on Necker Island, underwater flight on Necker Nymph takes exploration to another level. The unique craft has near-zero environmental impact, allowing unprecedented exploration of sea life in its natural environment.
The application of graphics to a submersible vehicle required expert engineering and installation from our crew, who personally flew thousands of miles to make sure the level of quality far exceeded the expectations of the submarine's operator, Virgin Limited Edition and Sir Richard Branson himself.

686 / Scion Racing “NUMERIC”
686 and Scion are pleased to introduce the world's first and only car solely dedicated to snowboarding, "Numeric." Built for snowboarders by snowboarders, the car is the focal point in the 20th anniversary celebration for 686.
686 teamed up with Scion Racing and Spin Imaging to develop the one-of-a-kind custom winter masterpiece. Never before has a car been re-created, re-developed and re-invigorated in such a unique manner. Each aspect of the build was directly inspired from a product and brand that's progressively pushed snowboarding to new levels.
686's technical textile background pushed manufacturing boundaries by successfully wrapping the world's first and only fully functional waterproof and breathable snowboarding outerwear vehicle with laser welded seams, waterproof zipper and mesh venting.
Original Artwork
Working with such a wide range of clients provides us with daily inspiration for new artwork and ideas. We consistently strive to look for the newest ways to display artwork and photos that stand out from the rest. Here we have created a "Functional Art" gallery. The idea behind it is to not just display surfboards, skateboards, snowboards etc. but to make them functional and still be able to enjoy the beauty and craftsmanship of them in a way that is not only a great conversation piece, but usable as well. This is a great way to display a contest board or one that has a deeper meaning to the individual, making it much more personal and in a way that also looks amazing hanging on the wall.
The Color of Palo Alto
Professional artist Samuel Yates came to Spin three years ago with his newest project that was an incredible process that he had been working on for 5 years prior. Yates photographed every parcel of land in Silicon Valley, ending up with thousands of photographs.
The average color of all 17,860 photographs became paint colors, then pixel colors and eventually referred to as the "Color of Palo Alto." Accurate color was critical to the massive size prints required.
The final artistic vision was the full perforated vinyl wrap on the side of the eight story city hall in Palo Alto, California.
This project was so detailed and complex, we invite you to discover more by visiting Yates' website at
