In 2008, Spin Imaging pioneered “Chrome Wraps” on multiple cars for the Gumball Rally. These were the first of their kind in the United States.
So when Dragon Racing was looking for pure innovation to brand their 2012 Indy cars for Katherine Legge and Sébastien Boudais, they called upon us to work our magic. This gave us an incredibly rare opportunity to produce something unheard of: create colored chrome as the focal point of each vehicle.
Using a gloss black base with gold chrome overlays for Sébastien and a white base with printed blue chrome overlays for Katherine, the diversity and contrast accentuated the uniqueness of the brand.
With only a week to graphically complete each car, the pressure created a natural adrenaline and we successfully met the deadline. Both cars were debuted at the St. Petersburg race on March 25.
